2020 Call for Award Nominations

Sociology of the Body and Embodiment Graduate Student Paper Award

We invite submissions for the Sociology of the Body and Embodiment Graduate Student Paper Award. The 2019 award recognizes the best paper (published or unpublished) by one or more graduate students. All authors must have been enrolled as graduate students at the time the paper was written. If published, the paper must have been published since January 1, 2018.  Self-nominations are welcome. To be considered for this award, all nominees must be current dues-paying members of the section on the Body and Embodiment (which requires ASA membership). To nominate an article for this award, please send an email to all award committee members with the following two PDF attachments: 1) a letter explaining how the paper makes a significant contribution to the sociology of body and embodiment, and 2) a copy of the paper. All materials must be received by  March 15, 2020.

Sociology of the Body and Embodiment Best Publication Award

We invite submissions for the Sociology of the Body and Embodiment Best Publication Award. The 2020 award will be given to the best published journal article; articles must have been published between January 1, 2017, and December 31, 2019.  Self-nominations are welcome and co-authored works will be considered. All nominees must be current dues-paying members of the section on the Body and Embodiment (which requires ASA membership) for the year 2020. All section members are eligible.

To nominate a published journal article for this award, 1) Please send a letter via email to all award committee members that explains how the article makes a significant contribution to the sociology of body and embodiment, and 2) send a PDF of the article to all the members of the  committee. All materials must be received by March 15, 2020. Late submissions will not be accepted (no exceptions). Individuals may submit to one award competition only (Sociology of the Body and Embodiment Best Publication Award OR Sociology of the Body and Embodiment Graduate Student Best Paper Award).
